This panel discussion will address how to feed people in extreme environments, from outer space to food deserts. The panel will feature renowned speakers including scientist and entrepreneur Dr. Heather Hava (co-founder and CEO of Autoponics) who has invented robotic food production systems for space habitats, and Dr. Michele Perchonok (President of Institute of Food Technologies) who was formerly a NASA Human Research Program Advanced Food Technology Project Manager and the Shuttle Food System Manager. This event is presented in collaboration with UCLA Life Sciences, UCLA INFEWS, Science & Food, the Semel Healthy Campus Initiative Center, and the Los Angeles Times Food Bowl Festival
